Getting Your Domain Name Status

Many domain registrars (even those not currently administering your domain name) can use aggressive, and sometimes deceptive or predatory techniques to either get you to renew your domain or transfer your domain to their company. Sometimes our customers receive letters in the mail that look like bills or renewal notices, but they're actually from another registrar in effort to get you to transfer your domain name to them. Also, depending on your registrar, you may be pressured to renew your domain for multiple years, and receive an urgent request for renewal several months in advance of the actual expiration date.

We know the truth about domain name registration, so it's always best to talk to us first if you receive something that looks like a renewal notice or bill. Some of our customers prefer to manage their own domain name, or they prefer to have us take care of it, including the renewals.* We're flexible to do as our customers wish, and our Customer Portal keeps track of everything. You can log in to check up on the status, as well as the next renewal date, of your domain name. Here's how:

* For domains that we administer, we renew them within 15 to 30 days of the expiration date unless we receive notice from the customer that they do not want it renewed.

1.

Log in to the Customer Portal.
If you do not have a Customer Portal account, register for one here.

2.

From the summary screen, click on Domain Names.

3.

On the domain names screen, you can view the status of all domain names hosted with PortalMedia:

  • Domains with a green check mark are active and not currently due for renewal.
  • Domains with a red arrow either require attention or are due for renewal soon. Read the status detail for complete information.
